Best in Show at New York’s Grand Central Station

Saturday, December 01, 2007

JASPER, Ind. - The red carpet was rolled out for Diamond® Cabinets at Home Magazine's debut of the Good and Green Show House. The show house was constructed within Grand Central Station and gave passersby the opportunity to walk through a mock home complete with a butler's pantry and in-law suite. The opening event took place within Grand Central Station on September 17, 2007, and the home was open and advertised to the New York public throughout the week. Diamond kitchen and vanity cabinets were displayed in the house, bringing a sense of style to the main kitchen, butler's pantry and in-law suite. Each room was decorated with a different door style and finish, giving the house a stylish, eclectic feel. Liberty cabinets in Cherry with a Coffee glaze decorated the in-law suite, while Trystan Cherry cabinets in a Chocolate finish decorated the master bathroom and the Selena line finished in Toasted Almond completed the butler's pantry. The main kitchen was completed with the shaker style Sumner line. The perfect contrast was achieved by using the White Pearl finish on the wall cabinets and the Coffee finish on the island. The island also contained cabinets fitted with frosted glass inserts framed in aluminum. The show house put an emphasis on green living and featured Diamond's ESP certification. The new program, introduced in 2006, recognizes manufacturers that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to environmental practices and sustainability. The products within the home and the event details are on Home Magazine's Web site (http://www.pointclickhome.com/home/events/home_away_home) and will be published in Home Magazine's 2008 January issue which hits stands in December 2007.

Diamond® Poses for a National Cover Shot

Saturday, December 01, 2007

JASPER, Ind. What do you get when you take three award-winning designers, beautiful and highly organized kitchens and a cabinetry manufacturer known for innovation? A magazine cover featuring a "best in show" design. Kitchen & Bath Design News (KBDN) featured the winning designs of the 2006 Diamond® Designs Contest in its September, 2007 issue with a cover shot and five page-spread. The winning kitchens integrate multiple LogixT products as well as Diamond Cabinets' classic finishes into the designs. The award-winning design work made for an award-winning media placement.

Featured on KBDN's cover was the design of Denise Laridaen, of Mauston, Wisc. The design showcased Diamond's Aurora Oak Light Cabinets. The kitchen was included among the other two winning kitchens of the contest.

"We are excited to recognize our brightest designer talent from showrooms across the country," said Emily Small, group brand manager for Diamond Cabinets. "It's these designers' work which illustrates the innovations inside Diamond Cabinets."

About the Diamond Designs Contest

The Diamond Designs contest celebrates the beauty and benefits of a functional and stylish room by awarding prizes to "best in class" projects that utilize Diamond Logix organization cabinets. Diamond designers at showrooms across the country were encouraged to submit an original, created and completed design for a new-construction or remodeled room(since January 1, 2005), along with at least two color "before and after" photographs and an essay describing the design rationale and Diamond products used.

Submissions were judged by a panel of industry professionals such as Leslie Plummer Clagett, senior editor of Woman's Day SIP Kitchens & Baths; Kimberly Sweet, editor-in-chief of Kitchens.com; and Linda Ohm, managing editor of CabinetMaker. Winners were chosen based on aesthetics and functionality of the overall room design, as well as the best use of Logix products in addressing challenges and capitalizing on assets.

And the Winners Are.

MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc. Receives Certification in Environmental Stewardship Program Program Recognizes Ongoing Commitment to Environmental Practices, Sustainability

Thursday, February 07, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. - MasterBrand Cabinets has been named a certified manufacturer in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) Environmental Stewardship Program. The new program, introduced in 2006, recognizes manufacturers that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to environmental practices and sustainability. The certified brands manufactured under the MasterBrand portfolio include Aristokraft, Diamond, Diamond Reflections, Decorá, Schrock, Kemper, Thomasville, Kitchen Classics, Somersby, Omega and HomeCrest. Administered by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer's Association and aligned with the National Association of Home Builders' Green Home Building Guidelines, the new program recognizes companies that employ the use of environmentally responsible materials in cabinet products. The program also rewards companies that seek to minimize the environmental impact on their local communities by recycling wastes and using low emission coatings. To qualify for the certification, companies are rated annually on 18 different criteria in categories including air quality, product resource management, process resource management, environmental stewardship and community relations. "We've been driving environmental stewardship internally at MasterBrand for a number of years, so it's gratifying to receive this important recognition," says Greg Stoner, president of MasterBrand Cabinets. "The KCMA ESP certification process gave us another way to gauge the effectiveness of our current manufacturing process, and to plan for future improvements. It also helps our channel customers discuss our environmental actions with builders, remodelers and consumers."

Diamond® Cabinets Launches Designer Handbook

Monday, March 03, 2008

JASPER, Ind. - Diamond Cabinets has created an easy-to-use handbook to help designers inspire customers to organize homes using innovative Diamond LogixTM products, including several cabinets that have earned the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use Commendation. The 46-page handbook, "Organize Your Home: The Logix-cal Way" features a forward edited by organization expert Julie Morgenstern and offers solutions for organizing kitchens, baths and other spaces throughout the home, along with strategies to help consumers get started, beautiful photography to spark ideas, and detailed information on product benefits and features.

"Our new designer handbook is a great way to showcase the innovation behind the Diamond LogixTM line and bring it to life for consumers through one of the most powerful and influential delivery channels we have - our valued Diamond dealers and designers," says Emily Small, group brand manager.

The handbook will be launched in March 2008 at select Diamond dealerships nationwide. Thereafter, it will be available at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show April 11-13 in Chicago. Images and excerpts from the handbook will be posted on the Diamond designer Web site, where designers will be invited to request handbooks and to offer to a copy to a designer friend.

Ideas to organize one's home - and life

The handbook's introduction sets the tone for readers with advice from Julie Morgenstern, author of the book, "Organizing From the Inside Out," whose own kitchen makeover using Diamond Cabinets is detailed in the handbook: "When I moved into a great new apartment in Manhattan with a very tiny kitchen, I felt inspired to do something with my own space," Morgenstern said. "Combining sound organization principles - such as thinking in zones - with smart solutions from Diamond Cabinets, I created a room that works with my natural style. Throughout this easy-to-use book, you'll be amazed at what great cabinetry can do to bring better organization to your home - and life."

The handbook follows with sections offering ideas for creating organized, beautiful spaces in the kitchen, bath and home office using Diamond Logix cabinets. Suggestions cover a wide range of topics such as carving out storage for bulk grocery items using the SuperCabinetTM; minimizing countertop clutter with the Mini Message Center; organizing bathroom toiletries and linens with the Vanity Linen Closet Cabinet; and creating a work zone in any room using components such as the Desk File Drawer Base and CPU computer base.

In addition to providing organization tips, the handbook offers cabinet solutions that provide greater flexibility, accessibility and visibility - ease-of-use features that are important to many homeowners, but that are especially meaningful to the more than 45 million Americans who have arthritis and chronic joint symptoms. For example, several Arthritis Foundation-approved products are detailed in the handbook, such as the Segmented Super Susan which cuts down on bending and kneeling, and the Wall Easy Access Cabinet, which eliminates the need for contort the body in order to grasp stored items.

Bringing out the beauty of an organized home

The handbook includes a design style section offering an overview of the many Diamond door styles. Personalization upgrades. Woods, finishes and glazes, glass door options and cabinet hardware. It concludes with a home organization checklist so customers can prioritize organization projects; a "home personality" quiz to help identify desired cabinet functions to aid in product selection; and a resource guide providing additional information on every product in the book.

"Our new handbook illustrates the amazing lengths that we go to in designing cabinets for the way people really live," said Neil Lynch, executive vice president of marketing and strategic planning for MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., the parent company of Diamond Cabinets. "We're excited to provide dealers and designers with a new communication tool to inspire customers."
